The Wijnhuis is a great restaurant in the middle of Stellenbosch

wijnhuis, stellenbosch

In the summer time we go to the Wijnhuis (Wine House) to sit under the ancient oak trees of Andringa Street, Stellenbosch. Here in the shade it is quite enjoyable because Stellenbosch is known to be about 3 degrees hotter than Somerset West.

This restaurant has a very large selection of wines. They pride themselves on their knowledge of the Stellenbosch wine estates.

I don't usually go there to taste the wines, perhaps because I prefer to go to the estates themselves. I prefer to go there early in the morning for a nice cup of coffee and some breakfast with my wife. Otherwise, late evening is great to sit on the roof patio among the potted olive trees.
