The sight of Table Mountain is as good as the view from the top.

The first time I climbed up Table Mountain was when I was in high school. I remember thinking how it wasn't really climbing at all. There are obviously routes that you can take where climbing is involved but the most common route is called "Platteklip" and it's simply a path and a lot of steps that take you to the top.

Going the Platteklip route takes about an hour and a half if you walk relatively fast. When you start climbing you are basically at sea level and when you reach the top you are as high as Johannesburg.

The other option is to go by cableway. This is a very good option for those who don't think they'll make the walk. It takes you only a few minutes to get up and the the cable car turns as you go up so that you get a 360˚ view of the beautiful cape.
