Franschhoek Winelands - "The food and Wine Capital of the Cape"
I really love this town. It's surrounded by mountains and it's got a satisfying foreign feeling to it that you don't find anywhere else in South Africa. We usually come to Franschhoek on a Sunday. Though, every now and then you'll find us here on a windless week day. It's a town for being sociable and relaxed. Very nice. My wife, like most woman I've met, loves chocolate. This is what she has to say on the

"The small town of Franschhoek is about 45 minutes from Cape Town and is known for two things: - It is one of the most picturesque towns in South Africa. It nestles breathtakingly beautiful amongst the vineyards in the shadow of the Hottentots Holland Mountains and We drive every Sunday to dine at one of these exquisite restaurants. I would like to recommend the top three as far as we are concerned. First is Grand Provence, a beautiful restaurant that serves the estate's own wine under the label "Angels Tears." Next is Haute Cabriere, well known for their champagne, brandy and interesting blends produced on the estate. Lastly, Chamonix. This one is our delight on a beautiful summers day. All three these restaurants are top quality. My advice is to book at least two days in advance to secure a table, especially in season (December through March) when a lot of tourists visit Franschhoek." 
Amongst the friendly people in the Franschhoek winelands, you'll find a wine estate in every valley so it's no wonder they call this place the food and wine capital. This makes it one of the best places in South Africa to have a meal and a glass of wine. The main road goes right through town and all the main restaurants and stores are situated here.
